One of our specialties is
the compounding of transdermal formulations, containing
NSAIDS, muscle relaxants, analgesics, anesthetics,
anticonvulsants, antivirals, etc. These transdermal
compounds bypass the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and
significantly reduce systemic absorption by being applied
topically and directly to the problem area. These topical
preparations are put in a unique gel that transports
ingredients across the skin for superior absorption. This
can be helpful for patients with previous GI bleeds and
other complications, such as reduced kidney or liver
function and high blood pressure. Transdermals can also be
formulated to be absorbed systemically, if necessary, for
chronic pain.
